36 In the formula window, highlight the placeholder text slope 1 index.
37 In the left pick list, select Index Points.
38 In the right pick list, double-click on CurrentIndex.
39 Immediately following that text, type -5.
40 Following the same procedure, replace the slope 2 index placeholder
text with CurrentIndex.
41 Immediately following that text, type +5.
42 Place the cursor at the end of the current formula and type a forward
slash /.
43 In the left pick list, select Channels.
44 In the right pick list, double-click on Displacement Into Surface.
45 Verify that the formula is identical to the one shown in Figure D-64.

46 Click the Check button.
The response should be “Formula is okay.”
47 Click OK.
NOTE
This formula creates a new channel that holds the value of the slope
divided by the current displacement. The slope is calculated based on
the five previously acquired data points and the five succeeding data
points (calculated post-test, not in real time).
