Atthistimeyoucanpressthe“Category”popup
andselectprogramsbycategory.
YoucancopyvarioussettingsfromProgramsor
Combinations,includingeffects,KARMAsettings,
ToneAdjust,andsoon.
Whenassigning
aprogram,youcanuse“Track
Select”toselectthetrackforwhichyouaremaking
assignments,andtryplayingthesound.
2. SetthepanandvolumeofeachMIDItrack.
Pansetsthepanofeachtrack,andVolum esetsthe
volumeofeachtrack.
3. SpecifythetonegeneratorandMIDI
channelthat
willbeplayedbyeachMIDItrack.
IntheP2:TrackParameters–MIDIpage,Status
specifieswhethereachtrackwillsoundtheinternal
tonegeneratororanexternaltonegenerator.MIDI
ChannelspecifiestheMIDIchannelforeachtrack.
NormallywhenusingtheOASYSasa16timbre
sound
module,youwillselectINTorBTH.
Ingeneral,youshouldsetMIDIChannelto
differentchannels1–16foreachtrack.Tracksthat
aresenttothesameMIDIchannelwillsound
simultaneouslywheneitherisrecordedorplayed.
StatusINT:Duringplayback,theOASYS’internal
tonegeneratorwillplaytheMIDIdatarecordedon
thattrack.WhenyouoperatetheOASYS’keyboard
orcontrollers,youwillbeplayingandcontrolling
thetrackselectedby“TrackSelect.”MIDIdatawill
notbetransmittedtoanexternaldevice.
StatusEXT,EX2,BTH:Duringplayback,theMIDI
datarecordedonthattrackwillbetransmitted
from
MIDIOUTtoplayanexternalsoundmodule.When
youoperatetheOASYS’keyboardorcontrollers,
MIDIdatawillbetransmittedtoplayandcontrol
theexternalsoundmoduleselectedby“Track
Select.”(TheMIDIchanneloftheexternaltone
generatormustbesettomatchtheMIDIChannel
ofOASYStracksthataresettoEXT,EX2orBTH.)
IfStatusissettoBTH,boththeexternaltone
generatorandinternaltonegeneratorwillbe
soundedandcontrolled.
4. Adjusttheeffectsettings.
MakesettingsforeacheffectinP8:InsertEffectand
P9:Master/TotalEffect.

5. Setthetempoandtimesignature.
Tosetthetempo,youcanturntheTEMPOknobor
presstheTAPTEMPOswitchat
thedesired
interval.Alternatively,youcanselectq(Tempo)in
theP0:Play/REC–MIDITrackProgSelect/Mixer
page(orsimilarpage),andusetheVALUE
controllerstosetthetempo.Set“TempoMode”to
Manual.
Nextyouwillsetthetimesignature.Inthis
example,wellexplainhowtosetthe
timesignature
usingthe“Meterfield.Normally,youspecifythe
timesignaturebeforerecordingthefirsttrack,and
thenbeginrecording.
a)PresstheSEQUENCERREC/WRITEswitch,and
set“Meterto**/**.
b)Press**/**tohighlightit,andusetheVALUE
controllerstosetthetimesignature.
c)PresstheSEQUENCERSTART/STOPswitchto
beginrecording.Whentheprecounthasendedand
Locatereaches0001:01:000,presstheSEQUENCER
START/STOPswitchtostoprecording.Thetime
signatureyouspecifiedhasbeenrecordedonthe
Mastertrack.
IfyoupresstheSEQUENCERSTART/STOPswitch
duringtheprecount,thetimesignaturewon tbe
recorded.
6. Setthe“RECResolution”ifnecessary.Whenyou
realtimerecordonaMIDItrack,thisparameter
specifieshowthetimingoftherecordedMIDI
datawillbecorrected.Thetimingwillalsobe
correctedwhenyourealtimerecordautomation
dataonanaudiotrack.(Alreadyrecordeddata
willnotbe
corrected.)
Forexample,let’ssupposethatyourealtime
recordedsomeeighthnotesbutyourtimingwasnot
quiteperfect,asshowninpart1oftheillustration
below.If“RECResolution”weresettoewhenyou
recorded,thetimingwouldautomaticallybe
correctedasshowninpart2ofthe
illustration.If
“RECResolution”issettoHi,thenoteswillbe
recordedwiththetimingatwhichyouplaythem.
7. Makeothersettingsasnecessary.
MakesettingsfortheKARMAfunction(P7:
KARMA),MIDIfiltering(P3:MIDIFilter/Zone),etc.
YoumayalsowishtouseToneAdjusttoadjustthe
sound.
