Distributed Network Protocol

Overview

NOTE: The response to the VER

command will indicate “DNP” under

Extended Relay Features if the relay

has DNP.

The SEL-351A Relay is available with Distributed Network Protocol (DNP3)

L2 Slave protocol. This includes access to metering data, protection elements

(Relay Word), contact I/O, targets, sequential events recorder, breaker

monitor, relay summary event reports, settings groups, and time

synchronization. The SEL-351A supports DNP point re-mapping. Two modes

of operation (both of which are detailed in this appendix) are available:

➤ Standard, for backwards and cross-platform compatibility

➤ Extended, with additional features
