CAUTION: When the Unload Drives utility runs,
cartridges are unloaded from all drives in the
selected partition(s), even if they are active. This
could cause backups to fail. Do not use the
Unload Drives utility when file storage operations
are actively running.
1. Fromthetoolbarmenu,selectMaintenance >
Too ls .TheMaintenanceToolsscreendisplays.
2. SelectUtilities.TheUtilitiesscreendisplays.
3. ClickShow Advanced.TheAdvancedUtilities
Confirmationscreendisplays.
4. ClickNext.TheUtilitiesscreenrefreshestoshow
alistoftheadvancedutilities.
5. ScrolldownandselectUnload Drives.
6. FromtheSelect the partition or library drop‐down
list,selectapartitionorTotal Librar y.
7. ClickRun Utility.
8. Aprogressscreendisplays,alldrivesassignedto
partitionsinthefulllibraryortheselected
partitionareunloaded,andthecartridgesare
returnedtotheiroriginalslotsorthefirst
availableslotiftheoriginalslotisnotavailable.
Whentheoperationiscomplete,aUtilityResults
screendisplays.
Note: Thisutilitydoesnotunloadcartridgesfrom
GlobalSparetapedrivesbeingusedforPostScan.If
thereisacartridgeleftinaGlobalSparetapedrive,
see
CartridgeleftinaGlobalSparetapedriveaftera

CAUTION: Make sure the drive you are sparing is
not actively running a backup or restore
operation. This could cause backups to fail.
Usethefollowingstepstoreturnthecartridgetoits
storagelocation:
1. Examinethepartitioninventoriestodeterminein
whichpartitionthecartridgebelongs(see
ViewingandDownloadingtheCartridge
Inventoryonpage257).
2. SubstitutetheGlobalSparetapedrivecontaining
thecartridgeforanotherdriveinthesamepartition
(see
UsetheGlobalSpareDriveonpage397).
3. Movethecartridgeoutofthedriveandreturnit
toitsstoragelocation(see
MovingCartridges
WithinaPartitiononpage265).
4. ReturnthedrivebacktoGlobalSparestatus.(see
UndotheGlobalSpareDriveonpage400).
