World Wide Names for Fibre Channel Partitions
TheWorldWideName(WWN)displayedforeachpartitionontheShared
LibraryServicesscreenistheWWNofthecontroller(RIM,F‐QIP,ordrive)
thatprovidestheroboticcontrolpathforthepartition(theexporting
controller).TheWWNisbasedonthephysicallocationofthecontrollerin
thelibraryandremainsconstantevenifthecontrollerisreplaced.Thenew
controllerassumesthelocation‐basedWWN.
Note: Ifmultipleexportingcontrollersareconfiguredinapartition,
therearemultipleWWNsforthepartition.ClickSummaryto
displaythePartitionSettingsscreen,whichlistsallofthe
WWNs.
For Partitions with F-QIPs or RIMs as the Exporting Controller
ThepartitionWWNisactuallytheWorldWideNodeName(WWNN)
fortheexportingcontroller.
IfmultiplepartitionsusethesameFibreChannelportontheRIMor
QIP,allofthepartitionshavethesameWWNNandthesameWorld
WidePortName(WWPN).However,thepartitionswillhavedifferent
LUNsunderthosecontrollers,startingatLUNzero(0).
IfyoucreatetwopartitionsandconfigureonepartitiontousePortA
andanothertousePortB,theWWNN/WWPNofportAwillstartwith
21andtheWWNN/WWPNofportBwillstartwith22.Inthiscasethe
portsareindependent.However,bothofthepartitionswillshowthe
WWNforPortAonly.
IfyouexportthesamepartitionoutbothportAandportBonaRIMor
QIP,theWWNNwillbethesameforbothportsbuttheWWPNwillbe
different.Thisscenarioisatypeofredundantpathtotherobotics.
