ThepartitionWWNisthesameastheWWNforthedrive.The
commandstocontrolthemotionoftheroboticswithinthepartitionare
sentfromthehosttotheexportingdrive’slogicalunitnumber1
(LUN1).Commandstocontroltheoperationoftheexportingdriveare
sentfromthehosttoLUN0ofthedrive.

Fibre Channel Port Configurations
Oneorbothoftheexternalportsontheexportingcontrollercanbeusedto
providethenetworkconnectivityfortherobotics.
Single Port Connectivity Thesimplestconfigurationusesonlyoneofthe
interfaceportsontheexportingcontroller.Thisconfigurationworkswell
whenonlyasinglehostisconnectedtothelibrary.Whenmultiplehosts
areconnectedtothesameport,theymustsharethissinglecommunication
pathtotherobotics.Thistypeofconfigurationrequiresthehoststouse
devicesharingapplicationsoftwaretohandlethearbitrationforuseofthe
robotics.
Dual-Path Connectivity (RIMs and F-QIPs only) Aslightlymorecomplex
configurationusesbothinterfaceportsontheexportingcontrollerwith
eachconnectedtoadifferentlibrarypartition.Eachportisusedasan
independentcommunicationspath.Fromahostperspective,eachportis
viewedasaunique,independentpathtoapartition.Thetwoportscanbe
connectedtothesameorpossiblydifferentstorageareanetworks(SANs).
Thelibraryprocessesthemotioncommandsandrelaysthemtothe
partitionsintheorderthattheyarereceived.Thisisawaytoprovide
limitedvisibilitybetweenthepartitions.Ifyouhavemorethantwo
partitionsyoucanuseadditionalcontrollerstoprovideadditional
isolationbetweenpartitions.
