SMART TONE
Smart Tone effects pulse beep and allows a pulse beep to continue even when the Pleth
waveform is corrupt due to motion. When Smart Tone is off, the pulse beep is suppressed
during signs of motion.
Smart Tone is useful in situations where clinicians cannot observe the monitor display. When
enabled, Smart Tone supports seamless monitoring of changes in patient saturation and
pulse rate in the presence of motion and low perfusion.

ALARM DELAY
Many desaturations are real, but transitory, and as such, may not require clinical intervention.
The purpose of this setting is to allow clinicians to minimize audible alarms in care settings
where such transitory, non-actionable desaturations exist. This option allows the user to
establish a user-selectable delay in the audible alarm after an alarm threshold has been
breached. The delay only affects audible alarms for SpO2 and yet does not delay the on-
screen, visual indication of an SpO2 alarm limit violation.
This option allows a clinician to require that the SpO2 value exceeds the alarm limit for a
user-selectable duration before an audible alarm, minimizing the risk that clinicians will be
desensitized to audible alarms due to non-actionable events.

Sensors
The VM15 with Masimo pulse oximeter uses standard Masimo LNCS SpO2 Sensors.
LNCS® Reusable sensors
LNCS reusable sensors must be used in conjunction with Masimo pulse oximetry
