1.3 General Safety
CAUTION
The following are general farm safety precautions
that should be part of your operating procedure for
all types of machinery.
Protect yourself
• W hen assembling, operating, and servicing machinery,
wear all the protective clothing and personal safety
devices that COULD be necessary for the job at hand.

• You may need:
– A hard hat
– Protective footwea r with slip resistan t soles
– Protective glasses or goggles
– Heavy gloves
– Wet weather gear
– A respirator or filter mask
– Hearing protection
Be aware that exposure to loud noise can cause
impairment or loss of hearing. Wearing suitable
hearing protection devices such as ear muffs or ear
plugs. These will help protect against objectionable
or loud noises.
