11.7.8.3 Configuring IPv6 Router Route Preference Page
Use this panel to configure the default preference for each protocol. These values are arbitrary values in
the range of 1 to 255 and are independent of route metrics. Most routing protocols use a route metric to
determine the shortest path known to the protocol, independent of any other protocol. The best route to a
destination is chosen by selecting the route with the lowest preference value. When there are multiple
routes to a destination, the preference values are used to determine the preferred route. If there is still a
tie, the route with the best route metric will be chosen. To avoid problems with mismatched metrics you
must configure different preference values for each of the protocols.
Configurable Data
Static - The Static Route preference value for the router. The default value is 1. The range is 1 to
255.
OSPFv3 Intra - The OSPFv3 intra route preference value in the router. The default value is 110. The
range is 1 to 255.
OSPFv3 Inter - The OSPFv3 inter route preference value in the router. The default value is 110. The
range is 1 to 255.
OSPFv3 External - The OSPFv3 External route preference value in the router. The default value is
110. The range is 1 to 255.
RIPng - The RIPng preference value .The default value is 160.
Non-Configurable Data
Local - Local preference.
Command Buttons
Submit - Send the updated configuration to the switch. Configuration changes take effect
immediately. These changes will not be retained across a power cycle unless a save is performed.
