Setup
Several parameter areas affecting the setup and deployment of the Lynx DSA system
are addressed here. In general these settings affect the Lynx system as a whole, and are
not specific to an Input or your acquisitions.
The Security option is more likely to be required by a very few users - only those who
may add or change User accounts on the Lynx once it is set up and working.
Network
The parameters on this page configure the network and network related services for
this device. Communication setup is described at length in Appendix B.
Note User access to Lynx from a local PC or PDA is dependent on the user's set
-
tings and services. Contact your computer administrator if you need assis
-
tance with your local PC or PDA.
The Lynx communicates with another computer device using one each of the follow-
ing technologies:
Ethernet (TCP/IP) network, 10/100 speed, Static or DHCP
USB - uses RNDIS
Serial line (RS-232C), including External Modem support - uses RAS
Universal Plug and Play discovery and Time Synchronization options are sup-
ported, but are not enabled by default. See Appendix B.
Overview
Determine your method(s) of connection to Lynx. Ethernet access is by far the most
commonly employed. Configure only those settings required for your application.
Ethernet connections will use the familiar TCP/IP protocol, and provides the
best spectral imaging results, depending on your choice of Web browser.
USB connections will use an RNDIS account which must be configured for the
browser interface of the Lynx. Spectral images will be limited via USB.
Serial or Modem connections will use a RAS account, which must be
configured for the browser interface of the Lynx. Spectral images will be
limited via RS-232.
You may have more than one type of network set up and enabled, but you may only
have one of each type of network connection configured. For example, you cannot em
-
ploy both DHCP and a static IP address at the same time for an IP network.
