Lynx Data
All spectral and configuration data is stored in the Lynx system, and forwarded to your
Internet browser when you connect. This ensures portability of your spectroscopy ap
-
plication and its results, and minimizes the installation and bandwidth requirements for
each user's terminal or PC. The Lynx' built-in web server changes the displayed
webpage structure and spectral display features appropriately.
Numerous users can share a Lynx system and its inputs, and can do so simultaneously.
The Lynx system has a number of inherent browser functions involving access, cus
-
tomized menus, portability with system integrity and security that are configurable.
CAM files of spectral data can be saved and used with other spectroscopy gear.
System Backup files can be saved to keep a copy of the Lynx's stored parameter set
-
tings. The Backup is saved as a PC file separately, and can be used with the Restore
function to return a Lynx system to a previously-saved parameter set.
Browser Requirements
The Lynx is designed to be used with the commonly-used browsers and operating sys-
tems found in the spectroscopy field, from those used at the time of this publication.
You may find one combination works better for your environment than another.
The Lynx uses a Java v1.5 compliant browser for rendering the images it uses to pro-
duce the webpage displays. Each has its own unique qualities. If the device detects you
have an incorrect version of Java installed on your machine or your browser does not
support Java then all images are rendered as JPG and the spectral display is not inter

active. (Java v1.5 is the most-current version as of the date of this publication.)
The following OS and browser combinations (minimal, current versions at time of
publication are listed) are suggested for the different desktop operating systems.

Note Most PC Menu steps and operations shown in this manual are done using a
Windows XP PC and using Internet Explorer, using both versions 6 and 7.
