Webpage Overview
The Lynx DSA uses a web-based graphical user interface. It is Java-based and applies
to all Lynx users, regardless of their means of connection to the Lynx.
User accounts may be set up, and can offer different 'levels' of features accessible from
the menus, to minimize usage concerns or unauthorized system interaction.
Webpage Controls
The Lynx user interface allows you to enter setup information using your keyboard
and mouse (or other pointing device) and change options using simple fill-in fields,
pull-down lists, or other means of setting as appropriate for the input. Your entries and
the resultant data simplify the display and its reports.
Frames
The webpage is 'live' and shows spectral data as it is acquired. The user interface has
three significant frames or regions, each of which may be resized by the User.
Menu (Navigation)
The Lynx Menu, or Navigation pane, is displayed to the left of the webpage, once
you have logged in. The User selects a menu link for a function they wish to interact
with. By selecting a Menu item, its parameter options appear as a window in the Setup
Frame (see Figure 52 on the following page).
Data Display and Control
To the top of the webpage is the data display, and includes the MCA Spectrum field.
This shows the current acquisition status in graphical form, and identifies some of the
setup parameters. This region provides buttons to start, stop, or clear an acquisition on
an input, and options to modify the acquisition display in real time without affecting
its setup parameters. You may also 'lock' an Input to keep your parameters intact.
The display can be split into two screens to expand the view on a region of interest.
The data display (and spectrum) may also be printed to a standard report form.
Setup frame
Menu-selected setup options will be opened in the Setup frame. Parameter entry may
require keyboard input or be selected from a pull-down list, as is appropriate for each
parameter. Each Setup frame includes online Help, and any changes must be saved by
using a Submit command. Unsaved changes may also be Reset.
One Menu item and any sub-items may be displayed at a time in the Setup frame. Se
-
lect the new Menu item to change; any previously opened Menu item will close.
