Communicating with Lynx
Although Lynx can be operated via Genie 2000 on the host computer, the most com
-
mon way is via Web-based control using your internet browser on a PC.
The Lynx supports Ethernet (TCP/IP) network connections, and USB and Serial
(RS-232C) control. Refer to Appendix B for communications setup.
Factory Settings for Lynx
The Lynx DSA is shipped with factory 'default' settings including a special adminis
-
trator ID. If your settings have been misplaced or forgotten, the Lynx system may be
restored to factory settings, using procedures found in Chapter 2 of this guide.
Lynx Access – Default Settings
The default settings for each connection method are:
Ethernet (default, preferred): · · · · · · · 10.0.0.3
USB: · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · · 10.0.0.2
RS-232 Serial / Modem: · · · · · · · · · 10.0.0.1
The default subnet mask value for each of the above is 255.255.255.0.
The default User name is administrator, and its default password is password.
In order to access the Lynx DSA for the first time, you must connect to it using an
Ethernet connection from your site's IP network. Quick Setup instructions are found at
the beginning of Chapter 1. For complete details, see Appendix B.
Universal Plug and Play
If using Windows XP or greater, and Universal Plug and Play (uPnP) discovery,
the PC can establish a network setting for a new Lynx system. Refer to Appendix B
for communications options (Universal Plug and Play is not enabled by default).
The Lynx system is powered up and turned on. Your network cable is plugged
in to the 10/100T jack on the back of the Lynx unit.
On your Windows PC, go to My Network Places.
An icon labeled Lynx will appear if uPnP is cooperating with the Lynx settings.
This means that the network information has been discovered already. (Good)
Double-click on the Lynx icon, and you will be connected with Lynx at its
Login page. The network connection is intact and appears to work. (Good to go)
Proceed with installation and setup by logging in to Lynx, etc., as described in
the following sections of this manual. Refer to Appendix B for a summary of
the setup details concerning uPnP with your Lynx.
