Genie 2000 Analysis Software (optional)
The Lynx requires Genie 2000 Basic Spectroscopy Software for analyzing
spectra. Refer to the Genie 2000 Operations Manual for operating information. Lynx
does not require the Genie 2000 software for acquisitions or its browser interface.
Note Most of the information presented in this section is a review of information
presented in the Genie 2000 Operations Manual. As it may be relevant, some
areas focus on details specific to the Lynx DSA, and some details that are not
relevant to Lynx are omitted.
Installing Genie 2000 On Your PC
To install the optional Genie 2000 software on your PC, refer to the documentation
provided with the Genie 2000 software. Genie 2000 software installation is covered in
Appendix A, Software Installation, of the Genie 2000 Operations Manual.
Lynx and MID Files
Your Lynx' MCA information can be saved as a file or files that you can save and ex-
change with the Genie 2000. You may recall that this 'file' is a MID file, and the Genie
2000 includes tools to create and modify MID files - specifically, the MID Wizard,
and the MID Editor. These tools and MID files are discussed in depth in Genie 2000
manuals, and reviewed in the following sections as they relate to the Lynx DSA.
Review of MID Settings
The following section reviews the MID Editor parameters as discussed in the Genie
2000 Operations Manual, including those parameters for the Lynx that can be ac-
cessed from the MID Editor via the Settings menu.
Editing an MCA's Settings
To edit an MCA's settings, use the MID Editor’s File | Open command to select the
MID file for that MCA, and open it in the editor.
Editing a File in the Runtime Configuration Database
If the Definition you want to edit has been loaded into the MCA Runtime Configura
-
tion Database, it must first be unloaded before it can be opened in the editor. See “Un
-
loading the Database” on page 41 for instructions.
Viewing the MID File Details
If you’re not sure which MID file you want to edit, select a file, then click on the Info
button to see further information about the file.
