After installing the Modem Connection, you should verify modem operation to Lynx
by dialing the telephone number for the modem. After the modem answers, it should
connect through to the Lynx Login page on your Terminal. Log In to the Lynx menu
to verify successful operation of this connection.
The Modem configuration for use with Lynx should now be complete.
Modem Use
The Modem connection
1. Connect your Null Modem Cable between the RS-232 connectors on the
Lynx and the Modem.
2. On your PC, access Network Connections and select the icon for 'Lynx'. One
method to do so is:
Windows Start button >> Settings >> Network Connections >> Lynx.
3. Connect your External Modem to the telephone line, and any other
connections as needed to make your modem operational (depends on your
modem).
The Lynx will time out if connected but idle for too long.
4. A Windows User will use a RAS Connection from their PC (terminal) to
communicate with the Lynx over the modem line. The Windows User will
place an outbound call to the Lynx' telephone number, and the Lynx will
answer the Modem Call. RAS will establish the connection between the PC
and the Lynx.
5. The Caller will gain access the Lynx by logging in using the RAS account
user and password ID.
