Security
Security in the Lynx system implies the requirement for all users accessing the Lynx
system to "log in" to the system by entering an assigned User Name and associated
Password before they may affect any Lynx features or operations. Those failing to
provide an authorized log in name and password would be blocked from using Lynx.
CAUTION
Any user with the Security option enabled for their user
account has the ability to make choices that can cause data
loss and/or equipment damage. Since misadjustment of
certain parameters could potentially damage a detector, this
is not advised for most applications.
By default, Security is enabled as the Lynx is password protected. A special user ac
-
count - administrator - exists, and a factory-default password for Administrator has
been set. This 'default' user cannot be deleted, however its default password should be
changed. Figure 87 shows where the Administrator's password is set.
Two Important Security Settings
The security of the Lynx is dependent on access to the Lynx settings being protected
by a Password, and/or limited to certain features for certain individuals. This is accom-
plished - initially, and by default - by two settings:
(1) Web Site Login Required
Web Site Login requires that ANY user accessing the Lynx through its browser inter-
face enter a User Name and a Password. If that name and password combination is not
entered successfully, this user is not able to change settings in the Lynx.
(2) Administrator Password
The Administrator account (user name = administrator) cannot be deleted and is
given full access to all Lynx menu features. A factory-default password is enabled,
however it should be changed (as it is clearly written down in this manual in several
places). The factory password is password.
