Static employs 'fixed' IP addressing. This is used if you have a URL assigned to your
Lynx system on your IP network.
DHCP allows the Lynx to find an available URL on your DHCP-enabled network.
This is the 'automatic' method of IP network addressing. If DHCP is selected, your
network will find an available address for the Lynx when it is connected.
Note
If DHCP is enabled, other network details on this tab are not required.
If Static is selected, other IP network data is required, as follows.
MAC Address
Displays the MAC address of the network card.
Assigned Address
Displays that was assigned to the network card by the DHCP server.
IP Address
Sets the static IP address. This is the fixed URL address provided by your existing net-
work that you enter into the browser to connect to the Lynx.
Default Gateway
The default gateway to be used to route those packets not destined for a subnet that the
device is directly connected to, and for which a more specific route does not exist.
This is requirement of your network's routing parameters, not a Lynx 'default' setting.
Subnet Mask
This value specifies the subnet masks to be used with the IP interfaces bound to the
adapter. This value can be any set of valid IP addresses.
DNS Address
The address of the Domain Name Server.
DNS Alternate Address
The address of an alternate Domain Name Server, if required.
WINS Address
The address of the Windows Internet Name Service.
WINS Alternate Address
The address of an alternate Windows Internet Name Service, if required.
