7.4.6.4 Concluding steps
Ê When working on a floorstand model, close the HDD bay cover, see section
"Installing the drive covers" on page 76.
7.4.7 Removing 3.5-inch HDD modules
7.4.7.1 Preliminary steps
Ê If the HDD module to be removed is combined into a RAID array, please
proceed as follows:
In order to permanently remove an operational HDD module that is part of a
RAID array from the server, you first need to delete the array using
ServerView RAID Manager.

RAID level Procedure
RAID 0
V CAUTION!
RAID 0 provides no data redundancy.
In case of an HDD module is defect, all data are
lost!
RAID 1
RAID 5
Removing an HDD module from a RAID 1 or RAID 5 array will
not result in data loss.
However, the removed drive needs to be replaced
immediately by an HDD module of the same or larger
capacity.
I After replacing the HDD module, RAID rebuild will
be performed as a background process, see
section "Performing a RAID array rebuild" on
page 128.
