v 2.0 — March 2023 Altanium Delta5
86 Change the Zone Control from ART to PID
7.8.14 Change the Zone Control from ART to PID
The Altanium system can automatically adjust the control algorithm to work with different
heater requirements. This control method is Active Reasoning Technology (ART). In some
conditions, it may be necessary to switch from the automatically adjusted ART algorithm to
an algorithm that can be manually adjusted. This control method is
Proportional/Integral/Derivative (PID). When you change a zone from ART control to PID
control, then you can manually enter values for the Proportional, Integral, and Derivative
parameters. The default control mode for all zones is ART.
To change the zone control between ART and PID, do the steps that follow:
1. Touch the zone to be changed.
2. Touch the Control Settings drop-down tab.
3. Touch the Control Mode field.
4. Select ART or PID in the Control Mode dialog window.
7.8.14.1 Change P, I or D Parameter Values
If ART has been used on a zone more than one time and could not get the required control,
change the zone to PID control and adjust the three PID parameters to get the required
control.
To change the PID settings, do the steps that follow:
1. Touch the zone to be changed.
2. Touch the Control Settings drop-down tab.
3. Touch the Control Mode field.
4. Select PID in the Control Mode dialog window.
5. One selection at a time, touch the fields that contain the values for the P, I, and D
parameters.
6. Type the new values for the P, I, and D parameters, and then touch the Accept button.
7. If necessary, do the previous two steps again to adjust the other PID parameters.
IMPORTANT!
The zone can be changed back to ART without the loss information. The default settings for
all zones are:
P = 15
I = 10
D = 2
