v 2.0 — March 2023 Altanium Delta5
80 Manually Assign One Zone (Follower) to a Another Zone (Leader)
After the error is cleared and reset, the follow value is written to the database. The defective
zone shows its leader zone on the Quick Set screen. The automatic follow function can be
disabled on the System Setup screen in the Heats Setup and Control Page 2 tabs.
If the automatic follow function cannot find an applicable zone relation, the Automatic
Manual Control (AMC) function starts. If the AMC is set to ON, the system automatically
changes the bad zone to Manual mode and applies a calculated average power output to the
heater. If the AMC is set to OFF, the Priority Control Mode (PCM) starts and does a shutdown
of the zone or the system, as controlled by the PCM directive.
7.8.7.2 Manually Assign One Zone (Follower) to a Another Zone (Leader)
If a thermocouple is about to fail, it can be assigned to a different zone (leader zone) before
it fails completely.
To manually assign one zone to a leader zone, do the steps that follow:
1. On the Quick Set screen, touch the zone to assign as a follower.
2. Touch the Advanced Settings drop-down tab.
3. Touch the Assign Leader Zone field and enter the zone number of the leader zone.
4. Touch the Accept button.
On the Neo View, Multi Group View, Graphical View, and Text View screens, the color of the
manual-follower zone changes from white to dark blue and the zone and name toggles
between the original zone’s information and the zone to which it follows.
7.8.7.3 Regulation Mode
Each zone can run in one of three regulation modes. Refer to Table 7-16. The default setting
is Automatic.
IMPORTANT!
Select a leader zone with the same or almost the same heater characteristics. For example, a
user may not want to assign a manifold zone to a tip zone. A zone cannot be assigned to
itself. If a zone is assigned to itself, the Altanium will ignore the changes.
Table 7-16 Regulation Modes
Regulation Mode Description
Auto In Automatic (closed loop) mode, the system uses a thermocouple to
control the temperature.
Manual In Manual (open loop) mode, the system will only apply power (0 to
100%) to the heater and not look for sensor feedback.
Monitor In Monitor mode, the system will only monitor the temperature of a
thermocouple (no power output).
