Slave operation
ConnecttheMIDIOUTofyourexternalMIDIdevice
totheKRONOS’MIDIIN.
SetMIDIClock(Global1–1a:MIDISetup)toExternal
MIDI.TheKRONOSwillsynchronizetoMIDIrealtime
clockandrealtimecommandmessagesitreceivesfrom
theconnectedMIDIdevice.
Note:IftheKRONOSissettoMIDIClock=Au
to,it
willalsosynchronizeto
theexternalMIDIdeviceinthe
samewayifMIDIrealtimeclockmessagesarebeing
receivedfromtheexternaldevice.
Synchronization to MIDI clock
KARMAwillsynchronizetoatempobasedonthe
externalMIDIclocktiming.
Synchronization with MIDI realtime
commands
InSequencemode,SongStart,Continue,andStop
messagesthattheKRONOSreceiveswillcontrolsong
playbackandrecordingjustaswhenyouoperatethe
frontpanelSTART/STOPswitch.KARMAalsowillbe
controlledinthesamewayaswhenyouoperatethe
frontpanelSTART/STOPswitch.(See
“Synchronizationwithsongstart/stop”)
WhentheKRON
OSreceivesaSongPositionPointer
message,itwillchangethelocationofthesongjustas
whenyouchangethesonglocationbyoperatingthe
KRONOS,andKARMAwillbecontrolledinthesame
wayaswhenyouchangethelocationontheKRONOS.
InProgramandCombinationmodes,SongSt
art
,
Continue,andStopmessagesthattheKRONOS
receiveswillcontrolKARMA.
•WhileKARMAisrunning,SongStart,Continue,
andSongPositionPointermessagesreceivedbythe
KRONOSwillresetKARMA,causingthegenerated
phrasesorpatternstostartfromthebeginning.
•IfaSongStopmessageisreceived,KA
RMAwill
stop.
Master operation
ConnecttheKRONOS’MIDIOUTtotheMIDIINof
yourexternalMIDIdevice.
SetMIDIClock(Global1–1a)toInternal.The
connectedexternalMIDIdevicewillsynchronizetothe
MIDIrealtimeclockandrealtimecommandsit
receives.

YoucansetupKRONOSsothatstartingandstopping
KARMAinProgramandCombimodeswillalso
controlstartandstoponexternalMIDIdevices,such
assequencersanddrum/groovemachines(suchasthe
KorgElectribeseries).
Todoso:
1. GototheGlobalMIDIpage.
2. UnderMIDIRoutingSetup,turnon“E
nable
Start/StopOutinProg/Combi.”
•InProgramandCombinationmodes,playinga
noteonfromthekeyboardorpadstotriggerthe
GEselectedforaKARMAmodulewillalsocause
theMIDIsystemrealtimemessage“Start”tobe
sentatthetriggertiming.
•AftertheStartmessagehasbeensent,turningof
f
KARMAON/OFFwillsendtheMIDIsystem
realtime“Stop”command.
