Sequencer overview
About the KRONOS’ sequencer
TheKRONOS’sequencercanholdupto200songsand
400,000MIDIeventsor300,000audioevents.Itconsists
ofa16‐trackMIDIsequenceranda16‐trackaudio
recorder,givingyouatotalof32tracks.
ViaMIDI,youcanrecordfromandplaythrough
externalMIDIdevices,aswellasth
eKRO
NOS
keyboard,physicalcontrollers,andinternalsounds.
The24‐bit,48kHzaudiorecordersupports16tracksof
playbackandfoursimultaneouschannelsofrecording.
Audiotrackscanrecordexternalaudiosourcessuchas
guitarsandvocalsaswellastheKRONOS’internal
sounds.Youcanevenrecordmixautomatio
nfor
volumeandpan.
Whenyou’vecompletedasong,youcanresampleitto
aWAVEfileanduseDiskmodetoburnyourWAVE
filestoanaudioCDonaUSBCD‐R/RWdrive(not
included).
WithitsbroadrangeofcapabilitiessuchasIn‐track
Sampling,TimeStretch/Slice,KA
RMA,hig
h‐quality
effects,andphysicalcontrollers,theKRONOSisthe
idealenvironmentformusicproductionorlive
performance.
Sequencer edits must be saved to disk
Whenyouturnoffthepower,thesettingsmadein
Sequencermodeandthesongdata,andanyuser
patterndatathatyourecordedwillnotbebacked
up.Ifyouwishtokeepthisdata,youmustsaveitto
theinternaldriveoranexternalUSBdevicebefore
turningoffthepow
e
r.(YoucouldalsodoaMIDI
datadumptoanexternaldatafiler,ifyouprefer.)
Immediatelyafterthepoweristurnedon,the
KRONOSwillnotcontainanysongdata.Ifyouwish
toplayasongonthesequencer,youmustfirstload
datafromdisk.(A

KRONOSaMIDIdatadumpwithSongdata).For

name,Vector,KARMA,DrumTrack,effects,andRPPR
settings,and100userpatterns.
Amaximumof200songscanbeloadedintothe
KRONOSmemoryatonce.Thousandscanbestored
ontheinte
rnaldi
sk,oronUSBstoragemedia.
MIDItracks1–16andaudiotracks1–16eachconsistof
setupparameterslocatedatthestartlocation,and
musicaldatawithinthetrack.Themastertrack
consistsoftempoandtimesignaturedata.

Song recording and editing
Songrecordingisperformedontracks.Youcanrecord
MIDItracksineitheroftwoways;real‐timerecording
orsteprecording.Forreal‐timerecordingyoucan
chooseoneofsixrecordingmodes.
Audiotrackscanberecordedinreal‐time,orcreated
byaddingWAVEfiles.
YoucaneditMIDItr

operationstomodifytherecordeddataorinsertnew
data,andbyusingTrackEditoperationssuchas
CreateControlData,whichinsertspitchbend,
aftertouch,orcontrolchangedata.
Youcanalsoeditaudiotracksinavarietyofways

ordeleteaudioevents,andRegionEditingoperations.
RegionEditingallowsyoutoselectWAVEfilesandto
editthestart/endaddressesofaWAVEfileinsingle‐
sampleunits.
Patterns
Therearetwotypesofpatterns:presetpatternsand
userpatterns.
• Presetpatterns:Patternssuitablefordrumtracks
arepresetininternalmemory,andcanbeselected
foranysong.
• Userpatterns:Eachsongcanhaveupto100
patterns.Whenusingapatterninadifferentsong,
usetheUtilitymenuco
mmandsCo
pyPatternor
CopyFromSongetc.tocopythepattern.Youcan
setthepatternlengthtooneormoremeasures,as
desired.
