Recording and editing patterns
Youcanrecordpatternsineitheroftwoways;realtime
recordingorsteprecording.However,patternrealtime
recordingdiffersfromsongrealtimerecordinginthat
youcanuseonlyLooptyperecording.
YoucaneditpatternsbyusingEventEditoperationsto
modifytherecordeddataorinsertnewdata.Youcan
alsous
etheGe
tFromMIDITrackpagemenu
commandtoconvertadesiredregionofperformance
datafromaMIDItrackintoapattern.Conversely,you
canusethePuttoMIDITrackorCopytoMIDITrack
pagemenucommandstoplaceorcopythe
performancedatafromapa
tterninto
aMIDItrack.
YoucanalsouseyourpatternswiththeDrumTrack,
viatheConverttoDrumTrackPatternmenu
commandonP5:Pattern/RPPR.
Recording patterns in real-time
Here’showyoucanuserealtimerecordingtocreatea
pattern.UserpatternscanbeaccessedbytheRPPR
functioninthesamewayaspresetpatterns,andcanbe
copiedtoorplacedinasong.Playbackdatafroma
trackcanalsobecopiedtoapattern.
Whenrealtimerecordingapatte
rn,a
patternofthe
specifiednumberofmeasureswillplayback
repeatedly,allowingyoutocontinueaddingmusical
datatoit.
1. Createanewsong,andasdescribedin
“Preparationsforrecording”onpage 76,setthe
tracktotheprogramthatwillbeusedbythe
pattern.
2. GototheP5:Patter
n/RPPR–PatternEdit
page(See
thediagrambelow).
3. Use“TrackSelect”toselectthetrackthatyouwill
usetorecordthepattern.
Thepatternwillsoundwiththeprogramandother
settingsoftheselectedtrack.
4. Set“Pattern(PatternBank)”toUser,andset
“PatternSelect”toU00.
UserpatternsU00–U99canbecreatedforeachso
ng
.
5. Selectthepagemenucommand“Pattern
Parameter.
Adialogboxwillappear.
6. Setthenumberofmeasuresinthepatterntoa
“Length”of04(fourmeasures),andset“Meterto
atimesignatureof4/4.PresstheOKbutton.
7. Asnecessary,set“RECResolution”toapply
realtimequa
ntization.
