Transmitting the Drum Track pattern via MIDI
Withthefactorysettings,theDrumTrackpatternwill
notbesentviaMIDIout.Ifyoulike,however,youcan
doso—forinstance,youcoulduseittoplayan
externalMIDIdevice,orrecorditintoanexternal
sequencer.Todoso:
1. GototheGlobalMIDIpage.
2. UnderDrumTrackMIDISetup
,enableProgMIDI
Out.
3. SettheProgMIDICh.asdesired.
TheDrumTrackpatternwillthentransmitMIDIon
theselectedchannel.
Drum Track settings in Combination mode
UnlikeProgrammode,Combinationmodedoesnot
haveadedicatedtrackfortheDrumTrack.Instead,
youcanassignanyofthe16TimbrestotheDrum
Track.
Todoso,selectadrumProgramforthedesired
Timbre.Then,settheDrumTrack’sOutputMIDI
channeltomatchthetimbre’sMIDIchannel.
MIDI in and out
InCombinationmode,MIDIinteractswiththeDrum
TrackdifferentlythaninProgrammode.Youcanstill:
TriggertheDrumTrackpatternviaMIDIin
•PlaytheDrumTrackProgramviaMIDIin
•TransmittheDrumTrackpatternviaMIDIout

Ifyou’retriggeringtheDrumTrackpatternbyplaying
thekeyboard,inputontheGlobalMIDIChannelwill
triggertheDrumTrackaswell.
Playing the Drum Track Program via MIDI
SincetheDrumProgram(s)usestandardCombination
Timbres,youcanplaytheDrumProgramjustasyou
wouldanyotherTimbre.
Transmitting the Drum Track pattern via MIDI
TheDrumTrackwilltransmitontheMIDIchannel
specifiedbytheDrumPatternOutputsettingofeach
Combination.
SetthistomatchtheMIDIchannelofthetimbreyouve
specifiedforthedrumProgram.
Ifthetimbre’sStatusisEXTorEX2,theDrumTrack
patternwillbetransmittedviaMIDIout
Drum Track settings in Sequencer mode
TheDrumTrackworksmuchthesameinSequencer
modeasitdoesinCombinationmode.
However,whileCombinationstriggertheDrumTrack
patternviatheglobalMIDIchannel,Songstriggerthe
DrumTrackpatternontheMIDIchannelspecifiedby
DrumPatternInput.Normallyyou’llsetthistoTch.
WiththeTc
hsetting,theMIDIchannelofthetrack
se
lectedbyTrackSelectwillautomaticallybeusedas
thetriggerchannel.

InSequencermodeyoucanusetheDrumTrackwhile
realtimerecordingasongtrackorpattern.

on/offdatatransmittedbytheDrumTrack
patterncanberecordedaseventsinatrackorpattern.
Youcan’tusenotedatafromtheinternalsequencer
asatriggertostartDrumTrackpatterns.
Ifyou’replayingaProgramorCombinationalongwith
theDrumTrackandcomeupwithanideafo
rasong,
youcanuseAutoSongSetuptoimmediatelystart
recording.Formoreinformation,see“A u t oSong
Setup”onpage 82.
Drum Track MIDI in and out
InSequencermode,theDrumTracktransmitsand
receivesonthefollowingMIDIchannels.
Receive:TheDrumTrackwillreceiveontheMIDI
channelspecifiedbytheDrumPatternInputsettingof
eachsong.Normallyyou’llsetthistoTchandusethe
KRONOS’skeyboardtocontrolthetriggering.
Transmit:TheDrumT
rackwilltransmitontheMI
DI
channelspecifiedbytheDrumPatternOutputsetting
ofeachsong.SetthistomatchtheMIDIchannelofthe
MIDItrackforwhichyouveassignedthedrum
Program.
Ifthetrack’sStatusisBTH,EXT,orEX2,notedataetc.
oftheDrumTrackpatternwillbet
ransmitted.
