ToenableaccurateplacementofAugmentedReality(AR)flagsonthecamera’svideofeed,the
AR200’sAHRSsensorsneedtocompensateforlocalmagneticfields,aswellastheEarth’smagnetic
fields.
Calibrationisachievedusinganautomaticlinearizationprocess.Thelinearizationprocessstarts
automaticallyafteryourvesselhasturnedapproximately100°,whentravellingataspeedofbetween
3to15knots.Thelinearizationprocessrequiresnouserinput,howeveratleasta270°turnis
requiredbeforelinearizationcanbecompleted.Thedurationofthelinearizationprocesscanbe
decreasedbycompletingafull360°turn,whentravellingataspeedofbetween3to15knots.The
linearizationprocesscanalsoberestartedatanytime.
IntheVideoapptheLinearizationprogressbarisdisplayedwhenlinearizationisinprogress.Thebar
isfilledtoindicatecompleteness,andwillturnR ediftheprocessispausedorotherwiseinterrupted.
Thetimetakentocompletethelinearizationprocesswillvaryaccordingtothecharacteristicsofthe
vessel,theAR200’sinstallationlocation,andthelevelsofmagneticinterferencepresentatthetime
linearizationisperformed.
Magneticinterferencecanbecausedbyobjectsonboardyourvessel,suchas:
•Speakers
•Electronicequipment
•Electricalcabling
•Metalbulkheadorhull
Magneticinterferencecanalsobecausedbyexternalobjectsincloseproximatelytoyourvessel,
suchas:
•Metalhulledvessels
•Underwaterelectricalcables
•Marinepontoons
Magneticdeviation
Magneticdeviationistheerrorinducedinacompasscausedbyinterferencefromlocalmagnetic
fields.
TheautomaticlinearizationprocessresultsinadeviationvaluebeingsetforyourAR200.If
AugmentedRealityflagsintheVideoapparenotalignedwiththeironscreenobjects,orthecompass
isoutofalignment,youshouldchecktheAR200’scurrentcalibrationsettings.Forinstructionson
