There is no Voltage
If 12 V is NOT read, disconnect VCM connector 7
and check continuity of circuit.

If wiring/connector is defective, repair/replace. If
wiring/connectors are good, try a new VCM.
There is 12 V
If 12 V is read, verify the ECM ignition ground
circuit. Refer to ENGINE CONTROL MODULE
(ECM) below.

Verify the ECM ignition ground circuit as follows:
Resistance Test
NOTE: For this test, use the ECM adapter
(P/N 420 277 010) to probe ECM connector.
Refer to ENGINE MANAGEMENT for more infor-
mation.

If wiring/connector is defective, repair/replace. If
wiring/connectors are good, try a new ECM.
SPARK PLUGS
Disassembly
First unscrew the spark plug one turn.
Clean the spark plug and cylinder head with pres-
surize air then completely unscrew.
Heat Range
The proper heat range of the spark plugs is deter-
mined by the spark plugs ability to dissipate the
heat generated by combustion.
