Damper Pedal (Sustain)
Thedamperpedalisalsosometimescalledthesustain
pedal.Itactslikethesimilarlynamedpedalonan
acousticpiano;whenyouholddownthepedal,notes
willcontinuetosustainevenwhenyouliftyourhands
offofthekeyboard.
Damper Switch vs. Half-Damper
Youcanuseeitherastandardfootswitch(suchasthe
KorgPS1)oraspecialhalfdamperpedal(suchasthe
KorgDS1H)astheDamper.
Ifyouuseafootswitch,itwillworklikeanormal
synthesizersustainpedal:noteswillsustainforever,as
longasthepedalishe
lddown.
Ahalfdamperpedalisaspecialtypeofcontinuous
footpedal(normalfootpedalswontworkproperlyfor
thisapplication).Itoffersmoresubtlecontrolof
sustain,whichcanbeespeciallyusefulforpiano
sounds.
Theoffandfullonpositionsofthehalfdamperwork
justlikethefootswit
ch,butintermediatepositions
modulatethereleasetimetoincreasesustainwithout
makingitinfinite.
TheKRONOSwillautomaticallysensewhenahalf
damperisconnectedtotherearpanelDAMPERinput.

thepedal,usingtheCalibrateHalfDampercommand
intheGlobalpageme
nu.
