Troubleshooting Patient Results
Use this section to identify the symbols that are displayed with results or instead of results
for a parameter.
This symbol is displayed next to results on the screen and printed reports, and the system
displays the Interfering Substance message in the event log and on printed reports.
Table 6-2 Symbols -----↑ or -----↓
Probable Cause Corrective Action
The result for the parameter is
above (-----↑) or below (-----↓)
the reporting range for the
parameter.
NOTE: The system displays
these symbols in place of a result.
1. Analyze the sample again, ensuring that the
sample has no bubbles.
Checking for bubbles is especially important
for samples introduced from capillary tubes.
2. Analyze QC samples and verify that the QC
results are within the target ranges.
Table 6-3 Symbol -----?
Probable Cause Corrective Action
The system detected an atypical
response when measuring the
parameter.
Analyze the sample again to verify the result.
The sensor does not reach a
stable reading within the
predefined time limit.
For information about D5 No Endpoint, refer to D
Codes‚ page 6-47.
The sensor signal has excess
noise.
For information about D6 Excessive Noise, refer to
D Codes‚ page 6-47.
Table 6-4 Symbol #
Probable Cause Corrective Action
The sample contains substances
that may interfere with glucose or
lactate measurement.
Check the sample source and result, and ascertain
whether the presence of an interfering substance is
likely.
For more information about interfering substances,
refer to Interference Testing‚ page E-6.
Repeated, unexpected occurrences of this message
may indicate sensor failure. Replace the sensor.
Table 6-5 Missing Results
Probable Cause Corrective Action
The parameter was turned off at
the Analysis screen.
Analyze the sample again, ensuring that the
parameter is turned on at the Analysis screen.
The parameter was turned off in
Setup.
Ensure that the parameter is turned on in System
Setup. Refer to Editing Demographics‚ page 2-25.
