2.5.3 Shock stop
In the case of a shock on the needle bed, e.g. in the case of needle
breakage, the piezo-electric shock stop switches off the knitting machine.
The piezo-electric shock stop is located below the needle beds.
2.5.4 Needle detector
The needle detector (1) checks the height of the fabric in the needle area.
Needle detector
If needles are defective (e.g. latch breakage), there is a danger of the fabric
not being taken down downward and gathering in the needle area. The
machine will then stop automatically to prevent from a major damage.
2.5.5 Light curtain
The area above the yarn carrier rails is monitored by a light curtain. The light
curtain generates a protective field consisting of many closely-spaced light
beams (distance: 14 mm).
If a finger, a hand or an object enters this protective field, the carriage and
the autarkic yarn carriers are stopped immediately. A pictograph appears
on the touch screen.
