OnAir 2500/OnAir 3000 Digital Mixing Consoles
Conguration 6-3
Date printed: 22.07.08
SW V3.0
6.1.1 I/O Init
6.1.1.1 Logical Inputs
Input Mapping Auto Cong detects the I/O hardware in the console, or in the D21m I/O
frame(s) from left to right, beginning with the D21m frame connected to the
rst DSP card, and maps the physical input signals provided by the I/O frame
to the logical inputs in ascending order, according to the following rules:
• Mic/Line input cards are mapped to 4 mono logical inputs
• Line input cards are mapped to 4 stereo logical inputs
• AES/EBU I/O cards are mapped to 8 stereo logical inputs
• * ADAT I/O cards are mapped to 2 × 8 mono logical inputs
• * TDIF I/O cards are mapped to 2 × 8 mono logical inputs
• MADI I/O cards are mapped to up to 64 mono logical inputs, depending
on the DIP switch setting on the card
• ** SDI input or I/O cards are mapped to 8 mono logical inputs.
• ** Dolby E input cards are mapped to either one or two sets consisting
of a 5.1 and a stereo logical input (Dolby E mode 1), depending on the
number of Dolby E decoders installed on the card.

• * Ethersound

I/O cards
Notes: If the desired input format for line or AES/EBU inputs should be “mono”,
this setting must be made manually using the conguration tool application
after auto cong has been completed.
Since the OnAir 2500 is available in xed congurations only, but may be
combined with a D21m I/O frame, Auto Cong is normally not required. The
I/O types marked with an * are not supported by stand-alone OnAir 2500
consoles. I/O cards marked with ** are supported by OnAir 3000 only.
Basic Label A basic label is an input label either generated during auto conguration or
entered manually during conguration. It may be temporarily overwritten by
input sharing, label import by an external router, or during CAB operation
via the Monitora protocol. In future releases it will be possible to temporarily
overwrite the basic label from the user GUI, e.g. for replacing a guest mic
label by the guest’s name during a particular session.
During auto conguration, the eight-character basic labels are generated
according to the following rules:
Characters
1...4
Input module type (such as MIC, LINE, AES, ADAT, MADI, SDI)
5, 6
Slot number (01...12 for the internal D21m frame within the Compact
SCore; 13...24 for the 2
nd
, external D21m frame, etc.)
7, 8
Signal number of the corresponding I/O card (01...64)
Example: LINE0708 is the label of the logical input mapped to the last (8
th
)
signal of the line in card in the 7
th
slot of the 1
st
(SCore) D21m I/O frame.
Signaling For all four logical inputs mapped to the rst mic/line input card, Input Loca-
tion will be “Control Room”, their Signaling Source will be “True”. For all
four logical inputs mapped to the second mic/line input card (if available in
the system), Input Location will be “Studio 1”, their Signaling Source will be
“True”. Input Location and Signaling Source of all other logical inputs remain
unchanged.
Bus Assignment Bus assignment for the master buses is not part of the conguration. It can be
changed by the user in the Channel - FDR Bus page; its parameters will
not be touched by AutoCong.
