Control Room Speakers Three keys are used to control the CR monitoring loudspeakers:
DIM The level of the CR monitor speaker output is dimmed (attenuation is con-
figurable, default value 20 dB). DIM is illuminated if the DIM function has been
activated either by the key or by one of the TALKBACK keys.
CUT The CR monitor speakers output is muted. CUT is illuminated if active.
As long as one of the microphones in the control room is on (with configura-
tion “Sign. = CR”), the CR monitor speakers are automatically muted and the
CUT key is illuminated.
If the monitoring source is “Audition”, the CR and Studio monitor speaker’s
behavior is depending on the configuration: either muted (CUT), dimmed
(DIM), or unaffected (Nothing); in case of CUT or DIM, the corresponding
key is illuminated.
MONO When selected, both left and right CR monitor speakers are fed with a mono
mix of the selected source.
PFL TO MON Function If PFL is active on any channel or if the external PFL input signal is selected,
PFL TO MON feeds the PFL signal not only to the DJ headphones but also to
the CR monitor speakers. If no signal is routed to the PFL bus, the signal for
the monitor loudspeakers is identical to the one selected by the CR MONITOR
source selector. PFL TO MON is illuminated if active.
ADD Function The ADD function is very handy for a station takeover. It allows temporarily
selecting two sources for the CR monitoring. The second source is temporar-
ily added by pressing ADD, and, while ADD is illuminated, selecting a second
source. Now both sources are either mixed together or sent to the left/right
monitor channels (configurable); ADD will be dark, but the source selector
keys of both active sources will be illuminated.
The ADD function is canceled automatically when selecting the next source.
CR Output level setting of the CR monitor speakers. If talkback is active, the CR
monitor speaker level is dimmed and the DIM key is illuminated.
DJ Headphones DJ headphones connectors (DJ ) are provided for monitoring purposes in
parallel on the desk surface and on the rear panel of the console.
DJ This control sets the level of the DJ headphones.
If the studio’s talkback key is pressed, the headphones monitoring signal is
dimmed and the talkback signal is fed to the headphones. CUT and DIM have
no effect on the headphones signal, and the headphones output is not muted
if one of the control room microphones is on.
Split Mode This mode is only valid for the DJ headphones and has no effect on the CR
monitor speakers. Split mode is controlled with three keys:
MON The DJ headphones signal is the same stereo signal as selected for the CR
monitor speakers by the CR MONITOR source selector. MON is lit if active.
SP / MON The left DJ headphones signal is the mono PFL signal, while the right one is
a mono mix of the CR signal as selected by the CR MONITOR source selector.
If no PFL is active, the headphones signal is the stereo CR signal as if MON
were active (see above).
If PFL is selected as CR monitoring source, the stereo PFL signal is fed to the
DJ headphones. PFL / MON is illuminated if active.
SP The stereo PFL signal is fed to the DJ headphones. SP is lit if active.
ADD An additional, third signal may be monitored on the DJ headphones. This is
the standard monitor signal plus the one selected with the ADD function (see
below) on the right channel, and any other signal selected with the SELECT
rotary encoder and its display while the SP key is pressed. Balance between
the left and right headphones channels can be adjusted with the SP rotary
encoder while the MIX key is pressed; the current balance setting is indicated
by the associated LED ring.
