3.16. Front driving axle
3.16.1 FDA with bevel wheel gear groups
3.16.1.1 General information
FDA with bevel wheel gear groups is mounted on the BELARUS-892 tractors. The
front drive axle is intended to transmit torque to the steered front wheels of the tractor. The
FDA consists of the main gear pair, differential and wheel gear groups. The main gear pair
is a pair of bevel gears with a spiral teeth. The composition of the FDA with bevel wheel
gear groups is shown in Figure 3.16.1.
1 - wheel gear group; 2 FDA cover; 3, 23 - gaskets; 4, 18 - adjusting shims; 5, 19 -
sealing rings; 6 - nut; 7 - driven gear; 8 - FDA housing; 9 - differential; 10 - breather; 11, 26,
27 - tapered roller bearings; 12 - locking bar; 13 – oscillation pin; 14 - filler and check plug; 15
- drain plug; 16 - hydraulic cylinder mounting bracket (for HSC); 17 drive gear; 20 - drive
gear cage; 21 - adjusting rings (2 pcs.); 22 oil thrower ring; 24 - cardan shaft flange; 25 -
nut; 28 - dowel, 29 - cotter pin; 30 - worm; 31 - wedge; 32 - drain plug, 33 - filler and check
plug; 34 – steering rod mounting bracket.
Figure 3.16.1 – Composition of FDA with bevel wheel gear groups
Drive gear of the main 17 (Figure 3.16.1) is installed in drive gear cage 20 on two
tapered roller bearings 26, 27. The required bearing preload is adjusted by a selection of two
adjusting rings 21, after which nut 25 is tightened and secured by cotter pin. Driven gear 7 is
mounted on the splines and the centering belt of differential housing 9 and is secured with
nut 6 against axial movements. Adjustment of the main gear meshing is provided by shims 4
and 18 installed between the flange of pinion carrier 20 and FDA housing 8, as well as be-
tween left and right covers 2 and the FDA housing, respectively. Before adjustment of the
gears meshing, differential roller bearings 11 shall be adjusted, which is carried out by shims
4.
Left and right covers 2 are connected with FDA housing 8 by bolts and form the FDA
beam. The FDA housing is equipped with breather 10, which maintains normal pressure in
the cavity of the FDA beam and the main gear pair.
Filling of oil in the FDA beam is carried out up to the lower edge of the filler hole
through plug 14. Oil is drained from the axle beam by unscrewing drain plug 15 in the FDA
