3.3.5 Reverse gear unit
The reverse gear unit (Figure 3.3.3) is a tractor assembly formed at the junction of
two transmission units: clutch housing 12 and gearbox 10. It is designed to quickly change
the direction of the tractor from forward to reverse and vice versa in all speeds of the gear-
box, which allows the tractor to operate in a "shuttle" mode.
3.3.6 Structure of reverse gear unit
The reverse gear unit consists of mechanisms of two groups. The first group is the
mechanical transmission assembly. It includes mechanical toothed gears that serve to trans-
mit and transform the power flow. The second group is the control of the reverse gear unit
which includes mechanisms, the design of which provides the operator with high-quality
control of the reverse gear unit.
3.3.7 Mechanical transmission assembly
The mechanical transmission assembly of the reverse gear unit consists of driving
gear 19 (Figure 3.3.3), driven gear 9, planet gear gear 16, intermediate two-rim gear 13 and
synchronizer 2. Drive gear of the reverse gear unit 19 is cantilevered on the splines of power
shaft 18. The support of power shaft 18 is ball bearing 17 which is located in cover 20, that
is installed in the bore of clutch housing 12 and is attached to it with bolts. Driven gear of
the reverse gear unit 9 is mounted on a smooth journal of the front console of gearbox
primary shaft 8 and can rotate freely on a roller bearing. Gear 8 is in constant engagement
with the large rim of intermediate gear 13. Planet gear gear 16, mounted freely on axle 14
on a roller bearing, is in constant engagement with drive gear 19 and the smaller rim of
intermediate gear 13 of the reverse gear unit. The axle of planet gear gear 14 is located in
the bore of cover 20 and is locked from rotation by pin 15. Intermediate gear of the reverse
gear unit 13 is mounted on gearbox front seat 11 on two ball bearings.
Between driving 19 and driven 9 gears of the reverse gear unit, synchronizer 2 is
installed, the movable train of which is always connected to gearbox primary shaft 8 through
splined bushing 7. The conical rings of synchronizer 2 and the cones welded to driving 19
and driven 9 gears form friction pairs of the synchronization assembly.
