2.4 Cab heater and fan control
Cab heater and fan controls are shown in Figure 2.4.1.
1, 2 - heater valve handle; 3 - recirculating shutter; 4 - cab fan switch;
5 - deflector; 6 - drain plug.
Figure 2.4.1 – Cab heater and fan controls
Cab heater and fan can operate in two modes: heating and ventilation.
In order to actuate the heater and fan in a heating mode it is necessary to do the follow-
ing:
- after refilling the cooling system start the engine and let it operate at medium rpm for
warming-up of water up to the temperature from + 50
0
C to 60
0
C, then open the heater valve.
To do this turn valve handle 1 (Fig. 2.4.1) counterclockwise up to the stop. If the heater valve
is installed outside the cab, it is required to turn handle 2 off. Then increase engine rpm and
after 1 to 2 minutes ensure that coolant is circulating through the heater radiator having
opened drain plug 6 of the drain cock from the cab right side. The heater radiator should
start warming-up. In course of this the level of coolant in the engine cooling system should
come down;
- refill coolant in the expansion tank to reach half of the expansion tank capacity.
- switch the heater fan on by means of switch 4 and direct the air flow by means of
deflectors 5;
- the volume of air ventilated into the cab can be controlled by opening of recirculating
shutters 3.
For draining coolant from the heating system, drain plugs 6 on the left and right sides
of the cab are provided. After draining the coolant you need to blow the system with com-
pressed air, having previously shut the valve on the cylinder block and having unscrewed
drain plugs 6. After draining is completed tighten drain plugs 6.
