3.5 Rear power takeoff shaft
3.5.1 General information
The rear PTO has a two-speed continuous and ground-speed (3.44 rev/m of travel)
drives.
The continuous drive is carried out from the clutch support plate through one of the
two gears pairs of rear PTO drive 26 or 27 (Figure 3.2.5) located in the clutch housing, the
PTO drive shaft in the gearbox, drive shifting clutch 27 (Figure 3.5.1) to crown gear shaft 26
of the PTO planetary gear unit.
The ground-speed drive is carried out by switching clutch 27 connecting crown gear
shaft 26 of the PTO planetary gear unit to the gearbox gear.
The PTO planetary gear unit is located in the rear axle housing and consists of crown
gear 22 mounted on shaft 26, cover 15 with carrier 25, installed in it with three planet gears
23, mounted on axles 21, shaft 20, eсcentric axle 3, unmovable axle 14 and sun gear 24,
connected by means of splines to actuating drum 17, which together with brake band 16
forms a band actuating brake. Carrier 25 is made as one piece with brake drum 19 and,
together with brake band 18, form the band actuating brake. Carrier 25 is connected to shaft
20 by means of a spline connection.
Replaceable shaft ends of the PTO 10, eight or six splines (540 rpm), or twenty-one
splines (1000 rpm) are installed into the internal splined bore of shaft 20.
On axle 3, there is an eccentric with lever 5 for external adjustment of clearance in
the band brakes by turning axle 3. Inside the rear axle housing, there is control shaft 6,
connected with levers 4 and 5 by means of two adjusting screws 11.
The PTO is engaged when brake band 16 is tightened and brake band 18 is released.
In this case, actuating drum 17 and sun gear 24, connected to it, are stopped. The rotation
from crown gear 22 through planet gears 23, running around the stopped sun gear 24, is
transmitted to carrier 25 and shaft 20 with a replaceable shaft end of the PTO 10.
The PTO is disengaged when brake band 18 is tightened and brake band 16 is re-
leased. In this case, shaft 20 is stopped.
3.5.2 Adjustment of clearance in PTO band brakes
ATTENTION: ADJUSTMENT OF CLEARANCES IN PTO BAND BRAKES SHALL BE
MADE ONLY BY DEALERS IN A DEDICATED WORKSHOP!
Adjustment of clearance in the PTO band brakes must be performed if the PTO
“slips”.
Adjustment of the PTO control mechanism must be carried out in the following se-
quence:
- set lever 6 (Figure 3.5.2) to the neutral position, aligning hole D with the hole in the
rear axle housing, and secure it with the technological bolt M10x60 28 (Figure 3.5.1) (hole
D in Figure 3.5.2 corresponds to hole A in Figure 3.5.1);
- having unscrewed five bolts, remove the hatch cover of the rear axle to access
adjusting screws 11 (Figure 3.5.1);
- unpin and remove plate 7;
- turn adjusting screws 11 one by one with a torque of 8 to 10 Nm, then unscrew each
adjusting screw by two turns, while tightening the screws so that the heads of the adjusting
screws are parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tractor (for the installation of fixing plate 7);
- remove technological bolt М10x60;
- tighten bolt 9 (Figure 3.5.2), maintaining dimension B equal to 26
+2
mm and secure
bolt 9 with a nut;
