2.22 Fuel tank valve control
1, 7 – valve; 2, 6 – bleed nipple; 3, 4 – tank; 5 – pipeline of fuel delivery to the en-
gine; 8 – fuel pipeline connecting fuel tanks.
Figure 2.22.1 – Fuel tank valve control
Fuel can be taken into the engine from tank 3 (Figure 2.22.1) or from tank 4, or from two
tanks at the same time.
When the engine is running, fuel is taken into the engine as follows:
- if valve 1 is shut and valve 7 is open, fuel is supplied to the engine from tank 4;
- if valve 7 is shut and valve 1 is open, fuel is supplied to the engine from tank 3;
- if both valves are open, fuel is supplied to the engine from two tanks simultaneously;
- if both valves are shut, no fuel enters the engine.
If one of the valves or both valves are shut when the engine is not running, equalization of
the fuel level in both tanks does not take place.
Figure 2.22.1 shows the position of the handles of valves 1 and 7 in the shut state. To
open the valve, you need to turn the valve handle to the left (counterclockwise), by 90°.
