3.14 Electrical equipment
3.14.1 General information
The wiring diagram of the BELARUS-892/892.2 tractors is presented in Appendix A.
3.14.2 Operation principle of the pilot indicator lamp of heating plugs
On the BELARUS-892/892.2 tractors, heating plugs (HP) are used as starting aids,
which are installed in the cylinder head. To control the HP, a heating plug unit (HPU) and a
heating plug relay are introduced into the electrical circuit. The operator selects the operating
mode of the heating plugs based on the temperature condition of the engine or the environ-
ment.
The following modes of operation of the control and diagnostics system for the heating
plugs are possible:
- starting the engine without turning on the heating plugs;
- starting the engine with turning on the heating plugs;
- emergency modes.
1 Starting the engine without turning on the heating plugs
Turn the starter and instrument switching key from position "I" (instruments on) to po-
sition "II" (engine start) in less than 2 seconds. In this case, the heating plugs will not turn on
and the heating plug indicator lamp (see Figure 2.6.1 or Figure 2.24.1) will not light up.
2 Starting the engine with the heating plugs turned on
Turn on the heating plugs. To do this, after moving the starter and instrument switch-
ing key from position “0” (off) to position “I” (instruments on), wait for the heating plugs to
turn on (approximately 2 seconds after setting the key to position “I”). Wherein:
- in the pilot lamp unit, the heating plug lamp turns on and operates in the continuous
glow mode, which points at the activation of the heating plugs;
- when heating plug pilot lamp changes from the continuous glow mode to the flashing
mode with a frequency of ≈ 1 Hz, start the engine, to do this, depress the clutch pedal and
turn the key of the starter and instrument switch from position “I” (instruments are on) to
position “II » (engine start). After the engine has been started, the heating plug pilot lamp
goes out, however, the heating plugs operate for another 3 minutes, and only then get turned
off;
- if there is no attempt to start the engine during the period when the heating plug pilot
lamp is flashing at a frequency of ≈ 1 Hz, the heating plugs and the heating plug pilot lamp
get turned off.
3 Emergency modes
In emergency conditions, when there are malfunctions in the heating plug operation
system, the heating plug pilot lamp, instead of working according to the algorithm described
in paragraph 2, starts working according to one of the following algorithms:
- flashing mode with a frequency of 2 Hz. If the heating plugs have not turned off
after working out the full cycle of operation given in paragraph 2 (sticking of the relay con-
tacts or mechanical failure is possible), the pilot lamp will turn on in intermittent mode with a
frequency of ≈ 2 Hz until the voltage is removed from the contacts;
- flashing mode with a frequency of "one actuation in 3 seconds". If during the oper-
ation of the heating plug unit in the mode of “Starting the engine with the heating plugs
turned on”, no voltage is applied to the heating plugs, then the pilot lamp starts operating in
the intermittent mode “one actuation in 3 seconds”;
- as the supply voltage of the heating plug unit increases (above 16 V), the heating
plug unit gets turned off. In this case, more than 2 seconds after the starter and instrument
switch key is moved from position “0” (off) to position “I” (instruments on), the heating plug
pilot lamp and heating plugs will not turn on.
