6.4.7.2 Operation 63. Maintenance of engine air cleaner
Maintenance of engine air cleaner should be performed after air cleaner filter
indicating lamp gets on, which is located in control indicator unit at instrument board, but at
least every 1000 hours of tractor operation.
To maintain the air cleaner perform the following:
- Remove monocyclon 1 (Figure 6.4.54) and clean its inner surface.
- loosen clamp 2, unscrew bolt 4, loosen clamp 3 and remove air cleaner 5.
- disassemble air cleaner 5 by loosening two nuts 7 and removing sump 6;
- then remove three filter elements (8, 9 and 10), clean it in diesel fuel and blow off with
compressed air. Air pressure shall be from 0,2 to 0,3 MPa;
- pour oil from sump 6 into special container;
- clean and rinse in diesel fuel sump 6, air cleaner housing 5 and central pipe. Let the
fuel drain, blow off the parts with compressed air.
- assemble air cleaner after washing of filtering elements (8, 9 and 10) in the following
order: mount first filter element 8 from thread with least diameter 0.22 mm (weight 220g),
then – filtering element 9 from thread with middle diameter 0.24 mm (weight-240g) and the
last one is mounted filter element 10 from thread with biggest diameter 0.4 mm (weight 100
g), the mount collar 11 and lock 12.
- fill sump 6 to ring nut and place it into the air cleaner;
- place air cleaner to the engine;
- check air-tightness of all connections of air cleaner and pipeline, find and dispose
leakages of air pipeline according to subclause 6.4.4.9 “Operation 38. Checking air-tightness
of all connections of air cleaner and pipeline”.
1 – monocyclon; 2, 3 – clamp, 4 – bolt; 5 – air cleaner; 6 – sump; 7 – nut; 8, 9, 10 – filter
elements; 11 – collar; 12 – lock.

ATTENTION: LATE AIR CLEANER MAINTENANCE MAKES AIR CLEANING WORSE AND
LEAD TO DUST ENTRY INTO THE ENGINE. THE DUST IN THE ENGINE CAN CAUSE
INCREASED WEAR OF CYLINDERS AND PISTONS AND ENGINE FAILURE!
