Shifting between gears shall be carried out with two levers: range and gear shifting
lever 3 (Figure 2.13.4) and reducing gear control lever 2.
Required ranges, gears and passes of the reducing gear (slow-down pass – “turtle”
symbol, speed-up pass “hare” symbol) are selected in accordance with shifting diagrams
4 and 1, as shown in Figure 2.13.4.
Ranges and gears are shifted with a single lever 3, hereby first you should engage a
range (1
st
or 2
nd
), then the lever shall be shifted to N position and the selected gear is en-
gaged.
Control lever for mechanical reducing gear 2 shall stay in engaged (fixed) position
during tractor operation: backwards – speed-up pass (“hare”) or forward – slow-down pass
(“turtle”).
Control lever for synchromesh reducing gear 2 shall stay in engaged (fixed) position
during tractor operation: backwards – slow-down pass (“turtle”) or forward – speed-up pass
(“hare”).
It is permitted to hold the reducing gear lever in the neutral (middle non-fixed) position
to ease engine start-up under low temperatures.
The velocity diagram of the BELARUS-892 tractor with tires of basic configuration,
equipped with a reducing gear is mounted on the right glass of the cabin and is shown in
Figure 2.13.5.
