Weather Options Controls
The display of various weather data is controlled on WEATHER OPTIONS page. Select MENU >
[MAP CONTROLS] WEATHER to open that page.
The WEATHER OPTIONS page includes the following controls:
MAP LAYER:
• WEATHER – Pressing the WEATHER icon toggles the weather overlay on or off (when a
weather device such as the SV-ADSB-470/472 is connected). When WEATHER is toggled
on, the normal topographical colors-coding will become muted or shade, and any
graphical weather will be depicted in bright colors.
• ANIMATE – Pressing the ANIMATE icon “animates” the weather presentation on the
map. (The SV-ADSB-470/472 must have been running for a long enough period to gather
successive NEXRAD pages.)
MAP CONTENTS:
(this group controls the two types of weather data that can be displayed when the WEATHER
layer is turned on)
• METAR ICONS – Pressing the MEATER ICONS button toggles on/off the display of
weather condition icons over the airport symbol for each airport reporting weather.
When selected ON, the airport icon will be overlaid with a round color-coded icon
indicating current weather: green for VFR; blue for MVFR; red for IFR.
• NEXRAD – Pressing the NEXRAD button toggles on/off the display of graphical NEXRAD
weather data.
METAR / TAF TEXT:
• DECODED – Pressing the DECODED button toggles on will text weather data in decoded
format when viewing the WX tab for a selected airport on the INFO page.
• RAW – Pressing the RAW button toggles on will text weather data in raw METAR format
when viewing the WX tab for a selected airport on the INFO page.
The following sections refer to these controls on the WEATHER OPTIONS page.
Displaying NEXRAD Weather / TFRs
When an SV-ADSB-470/472 is connected and configured, graphical NEXRAD weather data and
TFRs can be depicted on the moving map.
First, the WEATHER button within the MAP LAYER group must be enabled. Once the weather
layer is turned on, the two types of data controlled in the MAP CONTENTS group will be
presented on top of any other active map layer. If the TOPOG (topography) map layer is
enabled, it’s terrain color coding will be muted while the WEATHER layer is enabled to allow the
