DHCP Client

ip dhcp client
class-id
This command specifies the DCHP client vendor class identifier for the
current interface. Use the no form to remove the class identifier option
from the DHCP packet.
SYNTAX
ip dhcp client class-id [text text | hex hex]
no ip dhcp client class-id
text - A text string. (Range: 1-32 characters)
hex - A hexadecimal value.
DEFAULT SETTING
Class identifier option enabled, with the name ES3510MA-DC

COMMAND USAGE
â—† Use this command without any keyword to restore the default setting.
â—† This command is used to identify the vendor class and configuration of
the switch to the DHCP server, which then uses this information to
decide on how to service the client or the type of information to return.
â—† The general framework for this DHCP option is set out in RFC 2132
(Option 60). This information is used to convey configuration settings
or other identification information about a client, but the specific string
to use should be supplied by your service provider or network
administrator.
â—† The server should reply with Option 43 information, which encapsulates
Option 66 attributes including the TFTP server name and boot file
name.
