settingsfromtheinternalmemory.
.SNGfile:ThiscontainsalloftheSongsfrom
Sequencermode.
Note:Iftheaudiotrackscontainrecordeddata,region
datawillal

edatthistime.TheWAVEfilesare
storedinadirectorynamedafterthe.SNGplus“_A”
attheend,inthesamedirectoryasthe.SNGfileitself.
.KSCfile:ThislistsalloftheMultisamplesand
SamplesinSamplingMode,alongwithallofthe
loa

edEXsandUserSampleBankMultisamplesand
DrumSamples.
Directory:AdirectorycontainingtheUser
Multisamples(.KMPfiles)andSamples(.KSFfiles)
thatarelistedinthe.KSCfile.
Data dependencies
WhenusingSaveAll,“SavePCG&SNG,”andSave
PCGtosaveCombinations,youshouldalsoremember
tosavetheProgramsusedbyeachtimbre(ortheDrum
KitsandWaveSequencesusedbythePrograms)atthe
sametime.
SimilarlywhensavingPrograms,youshouldalso
remembertosavetheDrumKi
tsandWaveSequences
usedbytheprograms.
Note:Ifyourprogramsordrumkitsusemultisamples
andsamplesthatwerecreatedinonKRONOS,we
recommendthatyouuseSaveAlltosavethedata.
WhenyouuseSavePCGorSaveSamplingDatato
individuallysaveaprogramordru
mkit,ora
multisampleorsamplethatyoucreated,we
recommendthatyousavethemunderthesame
filenameinthesamedirectory.Whenyouuse“Load
PCG”toloada.PCGfile,theidenticallynamed.KSC
filewillalsobeloadedsothatthecorrect
multisamples/sampleswillcorrespondaut
o
matically.
Saving only a single bank of sounds
Youcanalsochoosetosaveonlyasinglebankof
sounds,orjustafewbanks,withoutsavinganyother
data.Todoso:
1. GototheSavepage,andselectthediskand
directoryintowhichyou’dliketostorethe
sounds.
Fordetails,seesteps1through5under“Saving
memoryco

entstodisk”onpage 187.
2. SelecttheSave.PCGcommandfromthepage
menu.
TheSavePCGDatadialogappears.
3. PresseachSelectionbutton,andinthedialogbox
thatappears,selectonlythebanksthatyou’dlike
tosave.
Remembertosaveanydependentdata!Forinstance,if
ProgramsuseWa
veS
equences,youneedtosavethe
WaveSequencesaswell.See“Datadependencies,”
above.
4. UnchecktheGlobalSettingandSetListcheck
boxes.
Ifyou’resavingjustoneortwobanksofsounds,you
don’tneedtosavethese.
5. IfthesoundsrelyonuserDrumTrackpatterns,
leaveDrumT
rackPatternch
ecked.
6. Pressthetexteditbuttonandenteranameforthe
file.(See“Editingnames”onpage 184.)
7. PressOKtosavethesounds.
Using the KRONOS as a data filer
TheKRONOScanreceiveMIDISystemExclusivedata
sentbyanexternaldevice,andsavethisdatatomedia.
(Thisissometimesreferredtoas“DataFiler
functionality.)Formoreinformation,see“Save
Exclusive”onpage 850oftheParameterGuide)
Formatting media
Newlypurchasedmediaormediathathasbeenused
byanotherdevicemaynotbeabletobeused“asis.”In
thiscase,youmayneedtoformatthemediabeforeyou
canuseitwiththeKRONOS.
•TheKRONOSisshippedwiththeinternaldisk
alreadyformatted.
•WhencreatingaudioCDs,youdon’tne
ed
toformat
theCDR/RWmedia.
Whenyouformat,alldatasavedonthatmediawill
beerased.Ifyouhadusedacomputeretc.tosetup
thatdrivesothatitcanbeusedasmultipledrives
(partitions),thisdatawillalsobeerased.Besu
reto
doublecheckbeforeyouformat.
Afterformatting,itisnotpossibletopressthe
COMPAREswitchtoreturntothepreviousstate.
1. Makesurethatthemediayouwanttoformatis
inserted.

2. PresstheDISKbuttontoenterDiskmode.
3. SelecttheDisk–Utilitypage.PresstheFiletab,
andthentheUtilitytab.
4.
PressDriveSelect,andchoosethedrivethatyou
wanttoformat.
