Connect the Driver, Pattern Controller, or Timer Wiring
Follow this procedure to connect input wiring from an applicator driver, a
pattern controller, or a timer to the melter to allow full use of the melter's
pattern recognition and stitching capability.
NOTE: Nordson Corporation recommends the EPC-15 or EPC-30 pattern
controllers, or any Nordson pattern controller designed to send a 24 VDC,
non-spiking output.
1. Make sure the driver/pattern controller/timer meets the specifications
shown in Table 3‐3.
Table 3‐3 Minimum Specifications Required for a Driver,
Pattern Controller, or Timer
Item Specification
Nominal output voltage 24 VDC (10 V minimum, 30 V
maximum)
Maximum RMS applicator signal
current
1.2 A per channel
See Figure 3‐18.
2. Route the driver/pattern controller/timer customer‐supplied input wires
through the SL‐16 strain relief (2) on the bottom of the melter.
NOTE: To achieve the best electrical noise immunity in an industrial
environment, Nordson Corporation recommends shielded, twisted wire.
3. Connect each pair of input wires to the appropriate input terminals on
connector P/N 1121630 from the ship-with kit. To reduce noise,
twisted-pair cable is recommended and shielded twisted-pair is
preferred. If a shielded cable is used, terminate the shield only at one end
of the cable. If the shield is terminated at the melter side of the cable,
terminate it to a chassis terminal on connector P/N 1121630. See
Figure3‐18 for the terminal positions.
NOTE: The X4 terminals are not polarity‐sensitive.
4. Plug the connector into terminal block X4 (1) on the hose interface
board(3).
5. Continue to the next procedure to connect applicator signal wiring.
