Introduction 1-7
1.10.9 Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing
1.10.9.1 Manual Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing (MDS)
The Manual Dual Simultaneous (MDS) option supports the use of two identical Nordson ASYMTEK
DJ-Series or DV-Series dispensing valves, mounted on a single Z-head, to simultaneously dispense fluid
at two locations. It is ideal for applications where dispense accuracy (placement and volume) is less
critical. Ideal parts include multi-up panelized or patterned parts with consistent spacing. Dispense time is
reduced by 50 percent. For applications that require greater dispense accuracy, see 1.10.9.2 Automatic
Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing (ADS) and 1.10.9.3 Auto Dual Simultaneous Dispensing +Z (ADS +Z).
1.10.9.2 Automatic Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing (ADS)
The Auto Dual Simultaneous (ADS) option supports the use of two identical Nordson ASYMTEK
DJ-Series or DV-Series dispensing valves, mounted on a single Z-head, to simultaneously dispense fluid
at two locations. Automatic Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing compensates for valve alignment and
workpiece skew in the X-and Y-axis, unlike the MDS (Manual Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing)
configuration. It provides motorized and software controlled corrections, based on angles calculated from
a single pattern, to allow for more accurate dispensing of dual valve systems.
1.10.9.3 Auto Dual Simultaneous Dispensing +Z (ADS +Z)
The Auto Dual Simultaneous plus motorized Z (ADS+Z) option provides motor controlled X-, Y-, and
Z-axis movement for two identical DJ-Series or DV-Series dispensing valves, mounted on a single
Z-head, to simultaneously dispense fluid at two locations. This feature provides the same capability as the
standard ADS feature but includes a motor driven Z adjustment for Valve 2 instead of the micrometer.
This greatly improves the dispensing accuracy of Valve 2.
1.10.10 Emergency Machine Off (EMO)
The S2-900 Series Dispensing System features two EMO buttons that the operator or service technician
can use to immediately stop all dispensing operations in case of emergency. These buttons are located on
the front and back of the machine. This feature helps prevent injury to personnel and damage to the
dispensing system and workpieces. See 2.11 Emergency Shutdown for more information.
1.10.11 Fids-on-the-Fly
Nordson ASYMTEK’S Fids-on-the-Fly™ (FOF) option is a high-speed fiducial recognition method.
With Fids-on-the-Fly, the camera is always in motion, capturing images on the fly.
The Fids-on-the-Fly option is up to 5.5X faster than the standard stop-and capture mode for locating
fiducials. It is ideal for applications with over eight (8) and up to 2800 fiducials (1400 for dual lane
applications).
1.10.12 Heaters
1.10.12.1 Contact or Impingement
The system is plumbed for two stations of contact and air impingement heating. The system includes a
closed-loop PID controller with software programmable set points for control of contact and air
impingement heater tooling. Dedicated, heated tooling is often required to enable proper fluid flow once
dispensed on the substrate. Heated tooling is custom-designed depending on the substrate and carrier type.
Temperature values are stored in the Fluidmove recipe and automatically retrieved when loading the
program.
