the coolant overheating lamp is on. The temperature of the coolant in the cooling system
must be maintained within 85-95 °C. To accelerate the warm-up of the engine after starting
and automatically control the temperature mode at various loads and ambient temperatures,
a thermostat with a solid filler is used.
The water pump, the fan and the alternator are driven from the engine crankshaft
pulley by two V-belts. Grease in the bearing cavity of the water pump has been put during
assembly. Greasing of the water pump bearings is not required during the entire period of
engine operation. Components of the external part of the engine cooling system of the BEL-
ARUS-892/892.2 tractors are presented in subsection 3.1.3 "External part of the engine
cooling system".
The engine lubrication system is combined. Bearings of the crankshaft and camshaft,
bushings of the intermediate gear and the drive gear of the fuel pump, the connecting rod
bearing of the crankshaft of the air compressor, as well as the valve drive mechanism, the
bearing of the turbocharger shaft, are lubricated under pressure. Sleeves, pistons, piston
pins, rods, pushers and cams of the camshaft are splash lubricated. The oil pump is gear
type, single section, bolted to the first main bearing cap. The pump supplies oil through the
pipe and channels of the cylinder block to a full-flow, non-separable oil filter with a paper
filter cartridge, in which it is cleaned of impurities, combustion products and wear. From the
full-flow oil filter, the purified oil flows through the oil supply pipe to the turbocharger shaft
bearing. From the full-flow centrifugal filter, the purified oil enters the radiator for cooling.
From the oil radiator, oil enters the engine line.
As the engine is started, due to the high resistance of the radiator unheated oil enters
directly the engine line through the pressure reducing (radiator) valve, bypassing the radia-
tor. The safety valve (valve of a full-flow non-separable oil filter with a paper filter cartridge)
serves to maintain the oil pressure of 0.8 MPa. When the pressure rises above the specified
one, part of the raw oil is drained through the valve into the crankcase. The reducing and
safety valves are not adjustable. When the engine is running, it is strictly forbidden to un-
screw the plugs of the pressure reducing and safety valves. The drain valve is adjusted for
a pressure of 0.25 to 0.35 MPa and serves to maintain the required oil pressure in the main
engine line. Excess oil is drained through the valve into the crankcase. From the main line
of the engine through the channels in the cylinder block, oil enters all the crankshaft main
bearings and camshaft journals. From the main bearings through the channels in the crank-
shaft, it goes to all the connecting rod bearings. From the first main bearing, oil flows through
special channels to the bushings of the intermediate gear and the drive gear of the fuel
pump, as well as to the fuel pump. The parts of the valve mechanism are lubricated with oil
coming from the rear camshaft bearing through the channels in the block, cylinder head,
bore in the shank IV of the rockers into the inner cavity of the rocker shaft, and through the
hole to the rocker bushing, from which it goes through the channel to the adjusting screw
and the rod. Oil comes to the pneumatic compressor from the main line through drillings in
the cylinder block and a special oil pipeline. From the compressor, oil is drained into the
engine crankcase.
The alternator is a non-contact electric machine with one-way electromagnetic exci-
tation and a built-in voltage regulator. The alternator operates in parallel with the battery and
serves to recharge it, as well as to supply direct current to electricity consuming components
installed on the tractor.
An electric starter is used to start the engines. The D-245.5 engines of the BELARUS-
892/892.2 tractors are equipped with starters with a nominal voltage of 12 V. The starter is
a DC electric motor. The starter is turned on remotely, using an electromagnetic relay and
a starter switch.
The pneumatic compressor is designed to pump compressed air into the pneumatic
system of the trailer brake drive and to inflate tires. When the engine is running at agricultural
operations that does not require compressed air energy, the compressor must be turned off.
The pneumatic compressor is piston type, single-cylinder, air-cooled. The pneumatic com-
pressor is driven from the fuel pump drive gear. Air enters the air compressor cylinder from
the engine inlet pipe through a flat valve. Oil for lubricating the air compressor parts comes
