Palpable Pulses Carotid, brachial,
radial and dorsalis
pedis pulses can be
palpated bilaterally
and are
synchronous with
the cardiac cycle. A
pulse deficit auto-
matically occurs if
the systolic arterial
blood pressure falls
below specified
thresholds. The
intensity of the
pulse reflects
current physiology
or can be set to
absent, weak,
normal or bounding
Note that carotid
pulses do not have
intensity levels.
