INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the CAE Athena Simulator user guide. This guide provides complete instructions on how
to use and maintain your simulator. The Athena simulator has been designed to provide instructors
and learners with advanced tools for female patient training.
The Athena Simulator
The autonomous simulator reacts to medical interventions with appropriate physiological responses
and wirelessly communicates with the Instructor Workstation, creating an authentic experience for
the learner and keeping the instructor informed as the scenario progresses. The Instructor
Workstation provides the instructor with scenario development tools and programmable patient
physiology to create an immersive, realistic training environment.
The Athena simulator comes with extensive clinical features and capabilities designed specifically for
healthcare professionals.
The simulator can be placed on a standard operating room table, on an ICU bed, on the ground, or
even in a vehicle (in the case of a simulated accident). Athena can also be seated in an upright
position.
In addition, Athena has the assessment, cardiovascular, and genitourinary features familiar to CAE
customers plus genitourinary fluids on board, bilateral noninvasive blood pressure, and IV access.
Wireless and tetherless, Athena takes simulation education to a new and exciting level of realism.
In addition, the following medical interventions can be performed:
• ECG and electrical therapy
• Intubation
• Medication and fluid administration
• Mechanical ventilation
• Suppository administration
