Authentication Method— Indicates the Authentication method used. The
possible field values are:
-
MD5 Key
— Users are authenticated using a valid HMAC-MD5 key.
-
SHA Key
— Users are authenticated using a valid HMAC-SHA-96 key.
-
MD5 Password
— Users should enter a password that is encrypted
using the HMAC-MD5-96 authentication method.
-
SHA Password
— Users should enter a password that is encrypted
using the HMAC-SHA-96 authentication method.

None
— No user authentication is used.
Password — Defines the local user password. Local user passwords can
contain up to 159 characters. This field is available if the Authentication Method
is a password.
Authentication Key — Defines the HMAC-MD5-96 or HMAC-SHA-96
authentication level. The authentication and privacy keys are entered to define
the authentication key. If only authentication is required, 16 bytes are defined. If
both privacy and authentication are required, 32 bytes are defined. Each byte
in hexadecimal character strings is two hexadecimal digits. Each byte can be
separated by a period or a colon. This field is available if the Authentication
Method is a key.
Privacy Key — Defines the Privacy Key (LSB). If only authentication is required,
20 bytes are defined. If both privacy and authentication are required, 36 bytes
are defined. Each byte in hexadecimal character strings is two hexadecimal
digits. Each byte can be separated by a period or colon. This field is available if
the Authentication Method is a key.
STEP 3 Define the relevant fields.
STEP 4 Click Apply. The SNMP User is modified, and the device is updated.

assigning SNMP access control privileges to SNMP groups. Groups allow network
managers to assign access rights to specific device features, or features aspects.
