Managing System Logs
The System Logs enable viewing device events in real time, and recording the
events for later usage. System Logs record and manage events and report errors
or informational messages.
Event messages have a unique format, as per the SYSLOG protocols
recommended message format for all error reporting. For example, Syslog and
local device reporting messages are assigned a severity code, and include a
message mnemonic, which identifies the source application generating the
message. It allows messages to be filtered based on their urgency or relevancy.
Each message severity determines the set of event logging devices that are sent
per each event logging.

In the
Log Settings Page
, define the levels of event severity that are recorded to
the system event logs.
The event severity levels are listed on this page in descending order from the
highest severity to the lowest. When a severity level is selected to appear in a log,
all higher severity events will automatically be selected to appear in the log.
Conversely, when a security level is not selected, no lower severity events will
appear in the log.
For example, if Warning is selected, all severity levels higher and including
Warning will appear in the log. Additionally, no events with a lower severity level
than Warning will be listed.
