description
The description Interface Configuration (Ethernet, port-channel) mode command adds a description to
an interface. Use the no form of this command to remove the description.

— Comment or a description of the port to enable the user to remember what is attached to
the port. (Range: 1 - 64 characters)
Default Configuration
The interface does not have a description.

The following example adds a description to Ethernet port 1/e5.
Console(config)# interface ethernet 1/e5
Console(config-if)# shutdown
